Birth Services

The Birth Center of Midland offers comprehensive birth services - starting with your prenatal care, ultrasounds, lab work and developing your birth plan.  We support unmedicated labor and birth in our well-equipped, safe facility with Certified Nurse Midwives and Registered Nurses.  After birth we offer early newborn exams and care, as well as your postpartum care.  Throughout your pregnancy we offer a holisitc, low-intervention approach, continually ensuring you're experiencing a low-risk pregnancy and an appropriate candidate for our care.

Annuals & Pap Smears - we offer annual well woman visits that can include a pap smear if needed.  In general, pap smears are recommended every three years

Preconception Visits - trying to conceive or thinking about it.  Let's discuss questions you may have.

​

Early Pregnancy Bloodwork - we can confirm a pregnancy with bloodwork or we can go further and check other early pregnancy hormones to ensure they are rising appropriately and if any support is needed.

​

Gynecological Problem Visits - let us help you with feminine issues like yeast infections, UTIs, or other concerns. â€‹

 

General Lab Work - we can monitor all your hormone levels, including TSH and treat if indicated.

Dr. Hector Garcia, a local hospitalist pediatrician, performs circumcisions here once a month.  It's typically the first Friday of the month.  The cost is $450, we do not accept insurance and payment is due at the time of the service.

Beyond Birth

Classes

Our classes are open to all, no need to be a Birth Center client.  Most classes cost $50 for you and your partner.  Childbirth education is $150.

Childbirth Education - offered in English and Spanish by a doula and childbirth educator.  This six hour Saturday class covers the first signs of labor through the first few hours with baby - everything you need to know about birth for you and your partner.

Breastfeeding Class - Perfect for women in their third trimester.  Learn the basics and the intracacies of breastfeeding before you begin from a Certified Lactation Consultant.  Breastfeeding can be hard but having a good foundation can set you up for success. 

​

Infant Safety - Taught by a Registered Nurse, learn the basics of infant safety including infant CPR as well as safety around sleep and travel.

​

Baby Led Weaning - begin feeding solids to your baby as early as six months old.  Babies can eat real food too - no need for rice cereal and purees.  In this class, a Registered Dietician teaches the basics of introducing solids safely.

​

Pelvic Floor Health - Taught by a Physical Therapist on topics regarding everything from preparing to for pregnancy, leakage and diastasis recti.  Many of these classes offer individual ultrasound assessments afterwards.​

Lactation Appointments - Meet for 45-60 mins with our IBCLC Certified Lactation Consultant.  She can help with early latching, supply mamangement, breastfeeding with allergies, plugged ducts and mastitis, pumping and returning to work, and weaning.  She can also evaluate tongue ties and perform your frenectomy follow-up visits.  Visits are $100 and payment is collected at the time of the appointment.

Breastfeeding Hour - Every Tuesday morning at 10:00.  Join us for expert lactation advice in a group setting, a 20 minute discussion on a specific breastfeeding topic and easy socializing with other moms.  Free and open to all, no need to be a Birth Center client.  Just show up!

Prenatal Yoga

Each April we begin our Prenatal Yoga Summer Series in Centennial Park.  Its a free 45 minute yoga class every Saturday morning at 9am.  Open to all!  Follow us on Instagram or facebook for dates and any necessary cancellations.

Infusion Therapy

We offer IV treatments, including fluids, anti-nausea infusions for early pregnancy, iron infusions and more.

VBAC Support

Join us the first Monday of every other month for our VBAC Support group.  Had a VBAC, attempted a VBAC, pregnant and want a VBAC, non pregnant and want a VBAC - you are all welcome.  Let's talk about VBAC and share our experiences.  Just show up, no need to register.  Follow our instagram and facebook pages for upcoming dates, or give us a call!
