At 41 weeks, labor began for me. Contractions kicked in the night before and continued into the morning. By 9:00 AM, my husband reached out to The Birth Center. Upon our arrival, my midwife Katy was already there, and we got comfortable in the room. I started laboring in the shower, which felt wonderful, but once the tub was ready, I decided to move there. The warm water eased much of the contraction pain. Throughout the process, they provided coaching while I navigated the waves of pain and hormones. It was an experience beyond my wildest dreams. They were right there with me, offering conversation, holding my hand, and encouraging both my husband and me every step of the way.
When it was time to welcome our daughter, I was utterly drained. They offered honey sticks and guided me through various stretching techniques. We even tried a tug-of-war method, which surprisingly helped during the pushing phase. After our daughter arrived, they placed her on my chest immediately, giving my husband and me precious moments to bond with her. The entire experience was more beautiful than I could have imagined.
The Birth Center truly cherishes this once-in-a-lifetime moment of bringing a child into the world, focusing on the mother’s needs and making it feel incredibly special. You might think that their support would conclude after the birth, but it hasn’t! I’m now part of a fantastic breastfeeding support group at The Birth Center, which has connected me with other moms and provided invaluable assistance with breastfeeding and latching. The Birth Center truly offered me the most beautiful and enriching experience as a first-time mom.
