After several heartbreaking losses, I entered my fourth pregnancy holding my breath—hopeful, but cautious. Every milestone felt monumental, and every appointment at a traditional OB’s office only seemed to amplify my fears. Each visit was centered on what might go wrong, and that constant undercurrent of worry weighed heavily on me. I knew deep down that I needed something different this time—something rooted in trust, peace, and support instead of fear.
That’s when we found The Birth Center. From the moment we walked through their doors, the atmosphere was different—calm, nurturing, and intentional. Instead of leaving appointments with more anxiety, I left with confidence. It was exactly what my heart needed.
On the morning of January 6th, I woke up with some stomach pains and thought little of it. But when we arrived at The Birth Center, it became clear: this was the real thing. Labor had begun.
The hours stretched on as I worked through contraction after contraction. Time felt heavy, and progress was slow. After many hours, I had only reached 6 cm. That’s when the midwives discovered that Ellie was sunny side up and stuck in my hip. It explained the stall in labor. They immediately stepped in with wisdom and care, guiding me through specific movements to help her turn.
When they broke my water and had me walk the halls during contractions, things intensified. Courtney, the main midwife, used her hands to help guide Ellie deeper into my pelvis—a painful but necessary step. Shortly after, I hit transition. The doubts came crashing in, and I wasn’t sure I could keep going. But my husband and the midwives became my anchors, reminding me of my strength when I couldn’t feel it myself.
As I neared the end, Ellie’s heart rate began to drop dangerously low. They couldn’t locate it consistently, and the ambulance was called just in case. Instead of panicking, something inside me shifted—I became more determined than ever. With the midwives cheering me on and my husband’s unwavering support, I gathered everything I had left and pushed with every ounce of strength.
And then, she was here. My Ellie. She entered the world with her cord wrapped around her neck, her little body blue and still. But within moments, she let out her voice, pinked up, and proved just how strong she was.
Holding her in my arms was the moment all the heartbreak, all the waiting, and all the fighting was redeemed. After years of loss and fear, we finally had our healthy, beautiful baby girl.
The Birth Center gave me the birth experience I had prayed for—not because it was easy, but because it was filled with support, empowerment, and love. And in the end, I walked away not just with my daughter, but with the deepest reminder that even in the hardest moments, there is always hope.
